If materials containing Asbestos are disturbed, the fine Asbestos fibres can cause serious diseases which are often not diagnosed until it is too late.
Asbestos is a naturally occurring material which is highly resistant to heat and absorbs moisture depending on type. It was heavily used in a wide variety of contexts including ceiling tiles, roof tiles, insulation, internal fire doors, fireplaces, partition walls, cement, boiler lagging, textured decorative coatings such as Artex, gutters, soffits, and downpipes predominantly in the 1950’s, 1960’s, and 1970’s in the UK.
If materials containing Asbestos are disturbed, the fine Asbestos fibres can cause serious diseases which are often not diagnosed until it is too late.
Use of Asbestos was banned in the UK in 1999, and so potentially exists in any industrial or residential property built or renovated before the year 2000. It is a regulated and controlled material and anybody that works with it is recommended to have the relevant Asbestos Training. This not only applies to people who are intending to work with Asbestos, but also to anyone who may unknowingly come across it, in the course of their normal work.
According to the Health & Safety Executive, Asbestos still kills around 5000 plus workers each year, which is more than the number of people killed on the roads.

The training we provide is fully accredited by UKATA (The UK Asbestos Training Association). A certificate will be issued to the learner, on successful completion of the course. This certificate is valid for 1 year, and a refresher course should be taken after this period.
A maximum of 16 students are allowed on any one course.
UKATA Asbestos Awareness Training Courses can be delivered anywhere in the UK, either at your workplace or at a designated training centre – we are able to provide the training to suit shift patterns where appropriate, including night shifts.
